Making wonderful memories

Jun . 2017
Hello everyone. Oregon’s weather is more comfortable than Japan’s weather. It’s almost summer. I can’t wait for summer! By the way, I had been busy recently because of final exams. This time, these final exams were my last tests that I took at PIA. Of course, they are very difficult than ever. Now, I got a little day off and charged my energy.
In May, I had a lot of activities to enjoy Portland. First, I went to Japanese with my friends and my conversation partner. The weather was good, and that place reminded me Japan. I felt ‘Wa’ in Portland. We had a good time enjoying there. I heard there were some events such as Koto shows and Star festival. I recommend to go there! Second, I held Sushi party in my house. I invited three different nationalities; Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese, so we made different dishes. These dishes were so delicious! We ate dinner and talked a lot. Also, one of my goals came true. I really wanted to make Asian food for my friends and host mom. They were really happy to eat that, and me too. If I have time, I will make other dishes. Third, I joined Portland Night Market. There are many vendors such as food, hand-made accessories, clothing and so on. It was exciting to see around. Finally, I saw fireworks at City fair. The City fair is one of famous Portland festivals. There are some attractions every weekend. That was interesting for me. In addition, I saw a starlight parade in downtown. Many groups were walking on the road, and some bands were playing and marching.
I made a lot of wonderful memories and enjoyed in Portland. Actually, I finished PIA classes, so I can’t take interesting classes anymore. Maybe I will miss PIA classes. However, I am going take service learning class. This service learning is doing volunteer at NPO. It will be a good chance to know American volunteer. I have already chosen two placements; International school and Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center. I am looking forward to volunteering there. I have just two months to stay in Oregon. I want to experience during studying abroad. I don’t want to regret, so I will try everything that I can do.
