1 month has passed since I came to New Zealand. It is getting warmer and the cherry blossoms have fallen down. A few of my friends went back their countries or started working. On 6th November, we had three new friends. I have experienced so many meetings and partings. About 2 weeks ago I could pass the test, so I went to up. Now in my class, there are 16 students. 7 Koreans, 2 Chinese, 1 Taiwanese, 1 Bangladeshi, 2 Russian and 3 Japanese. The number of students is twice of before and I always speak English. In these 2 weeks, I read a long sentence or long story and made groups and talked about many topics. It’s difficult to explain my opinion in English. In the break time, My Korean and Chinse friends and I talked about our languages. Our countries are very near and there are many things in common and as well as difference. It was very interesting. On 31st October, I went to Misson Bay on the school activity. We ate ice cream and went to Bastion Point. On 5th November, it was my host brother’s birthday party. We leased the park, ate cake and snacks and drunk wine. There were 30 people who came, so I could talk with local people.
Recently, I have started to feel a little development. To improve my English skills more, I would like to try many things.

ニュージーランドにきて、約1ヶ月が経ちました。少しずつ暖かくなり、学校の周りの桜も段々と葉桜になってきています。私はまだ学校をスタートして1ヶ月しか経過していませんが、コースを終了し帰国する友人もいればこちらで働く友人もおり、本当に多くの人との出会い・別れを経験しています。

私は、2週間前に行われたテストを無事パスすることができ、上のレベルになりました。今のクラスは、韓国人7人、中国人2人、台湾人1人、バングラデシュ人1人、ロシア人2人、日本人3人の16人と前のクラスの倍の人数になりました。新しいクラスでは、日本語を話すことが全くなく1日中ずっと英語を話しています。この2週間は、長文を読んだりgenderに関する文を読み討論したり、習ったフレーズや単語を使って文を作りグループで発表し合ったりと、会話の多い授業です。グループで話し合う度に、自分の意見を英語で他人に説明することの難しさを強く感じます。
この間の休み時間には、韓国と中国の友人とそれぞれの言語・歴史、国の習慣などを教え合いました。同じアジアで隣同士の国ですが価値観や考え方は全く異なっており、とても興味深かったです。

10月31日には学校のアクティビティでMisson Bayへ行ってきました。天気も良よく、友人とアイスを買って海辺のベンチでシェアし、Bastion Point という小高い丘に登って、記念公園にも行きました。
11月5日にはホストブラザーの誕生日会にも参加しました。近くの公園の敷地を借り、ジュースやワイン、お菓子、ケーキを並べて約30人規模で、盛大にパーティーをしました。
最近は、学校やホームステイ先を通して英語力の成長を少し感じられるようになりました。
時間の流れがゆっくりと感じるニュージ―ランドですが、この１か月は本当に早く経過したように思います。残りの5か月間でも様々なことに挑戦し、たくさんの経験や思い出を作りたいと思います。
