海外留学レポートReport from Overseas

All about Cebu

Feb . 2016
This is my last report. I want to share many things. I stayed for 6 months here in Cebu. It’s quite long.
When I came here, I felt really sad. I didn’t have any friends, and the environment of another country is very different to live. In addition, I was hospitalized in the first week because I had stomachache, high fever and diarrhea. I was dehydrated. But I got used to to everything after 1 month. Eventually, I began to like Cebu.
On the other hand, the first I'm going to share is about my study in University of the Visayas. I studied there twice a week. In the first semester, I took some English classes. Then I noticed that I knew grammar but I cannot speak as well as Filipino. Therefore, I took some major classes in the second semester. That was a really big challenge for me because I had to understand difficult words and sometimes my teacher gave me projects and difficult problems. I had no choice. I just had to do that. But now I think that is one of my good experiences. Fortunately, I met many Filipino students. I studied, talked, and went out with them. They are so friendly. Actually, I was really nervous when I met them for the first time. But I realized I didn't have to feel that way. I can talk with everyone if I wish. It was pretty good feeling to spend time together.
Consequently, I studied as well at QQ-English. I want you to know many things about QQ-English. I have 8 classes in a day. It means I have 8 teachers, therefore I know many teachers. All of them are really good. When I came here, I was a shy type of person like any ordinary Japanese. But they tried me not to be like that. They have motivations and confidence for everything. Sometimes, I went out with teachers during lunch time break and after school. So, we know each other very much. I love all of my teachers. By the way, there is a Callan Method in QQ-English. That’s very useful to speak English well. We have to answer the questions suddenly after the teacher asks me. To be honest, I didn’t understand this method. I just follow my teacher. But one day, I noticed that I answered it without translating Japanese. I think this method is the most important point to study in Cebu.
Furthermore, I want to talk about weekends and holidays. I went to some shopping malls, islands, restaurants, salon, spa etc. and I usually use a taxi as my transportation. So, I sometimes talked with the driver because most of them can speak English. It’s fun. I also learned something from the driver. I enjoyed going out. I think every good place has good people. When I went to one of the restaurants, their staffs were really nice. They think about us all the time. So I was relaxed.
In conclusion, my experiences are perfect. I’m going to miss Cebu.
And I appreciate QQ staffs, teachers, friends, and my parents.
Thank you for giving a special opportunity.
