It was a Remembrance Day on November 10. I took part in its ceremony in Queen’s University. People in Canada put red poppies on their chest to express mourning for people who died in war. Poppies are flower which be written in a certain poem. This poem is “In Flanders Field”, which was written by John McCrae in 1915. He wrote this poem in Flanders field. This area was the front where died many people. When he saw a graveyard there, he ached for this situation and decided to write down about that. There were many red poppies in this graveyard, so he wrote “In Flanders Fields the poppies blow” in his poem. Many people read the poem and poppies became the symbol of a Remembrance Day. I was impressed that many Canadian don’t forget this day and meaning. This ceremony was a good opportunity for me to think about war and peace, and I will not forget this ceremony and what I learn from it.
