海外留学レポートReport from Overseas

The best part of studying abroad

Oct . 2018

ALOHA! This is my second monthly report. Thank you for reading. There were so many things happened to me in this month. At first, I’d like to talk about homestay. The end of September, I moved another homestay house. My new host family is from Nepal who have hospitable mind.  Of course, their culture is quite different compare with my country. For example, food, cloth, language. The 5 years old young host sister calls me “LILI”. It means sister in Nepali. One day, my host mother cooked me delicious Indian taste curry. I asked why she can cook Indian food. And she said her mother and sister lives in India now. That’s why she knows well about how to cook Indian food. I’m very happy I could experience such wonderful, interesting culture differences.

Second, I’ll talk about club activity. Recently, I became a member of Japanese Culture Club. It is a kind of club that has a purpose of interact with foreign upper campus students and Japanese exchange students. We held a meeting on Friday every other week. I recommend strongly this club for future student because you can make many local friends who are interested in Japanese culture. I think it’s a beneficial opportunity to learn English and share our culture! I actually made many local friends in this club.

To tell the truth, I struggled with culture shock, accept other custom in this month. I sometimes mortified and cried when I couldn’t express my feeling well because of my poor English. After that, I learned that the most important is to RESPECT our culture. Maybe almost exchange students had went through this experience. I gained unforgettable, a bit bitter memory in this time.

In conclusion, hopefully you will understand the best part of studying abroad after read this report. I have to do three final presentation and assignments before mid-term break week. Even though very hectic, I’ll do what I can do now.
