オーストラリアで半年の留学生活が始まりました。そして、オーストラリアに来て約３週間が経ちました。日本を出発する前は全く実感がなかったにもかかわらず、キングスホォード・スミス空港に着陸し、飛行機の窓からの景色を見た時にオーストラリアでの留学生活が始まったことを実感し緊張しました。

オーストラリアで体験するすべてが初めてなことばかりで、今までの生活との変化に驚いています。

私のクラスは日本・中国・ジョルダンの３つの国から来た生徒で、クラスの人数は１３人です。

そして、学校の授業で１０月末にオーラルプレゼンテーションがあります。今はそれに向けて準備をしています。今までのプレゼンテーションは原稿を一言一句丸暗記してしまって、ただ頭で覚えたことを一気に言葉に出していただけでした。それでは、聞き手が私の話をどれだけ理解しているのかが分からず、聞き手が質問をしたいとしても私がずっと喋っているだけで質問しにくい環境を作ってしまっていました。オーラルプレゼンテーションでは今までのただ暗記しただけのプレゼンテーションから抜け出すチャンスです。今回のプレゼンテーションで私の伝えたいことを聞き手にしっかりと伝えられるように準備していきたいです。

学校がある平日の放課後は課題をしていますが、週末は色々なところに出かけています。オーストラリアに来て初めての週末はホストマザーとホストマザーのお友達の方々と映画に行きました。英語の字幕が無い映画はめったに観ないので、今までで一番集中して観た映画だったと思います。さらにオペラハウスの近くからフェリーに乗って巨大な敷地のタロンガ動物園に友達と行きました。オーストラリアでしか見られないであろう動物を間近に見ることができて嬉しかったです。

今月は中間テストやオーラルプレゼンテーションが待ち構えているので頑張りたいと思います。

I started studying English in Australia. AND I came to Australia, approximately three weeks ago. I didn’t have any actual feeling before the leaving Japan, but I realized that studying abroad life as an International student in Australia began when I saw the scenery from the window of airplane. At that time, I was quite nervous.

It is surprising that I experience new things in Australia for the first time and a change with the conventional life in Japan.

In my class, there are students from Japan, China and Jordan and the number of people is 13 students. And we have oral presentations at the end of October in class. I am preparing for it now. My usual presentation in Japan memorized the whole manuscript. I have used to read the notes throughout the presentation, the audience wanted to ask questions without understanding how much my audience understood my presentation. It is a chance for me to get out of the conventional style of presentations. I would like to prepare well so that it is conveyed well toward the audience.

I always do my homework after school during the weekdays, but I usually go out on the weekend to the various places. I came to Australia in the first weekend, I watched a film with my host mother and friends of her at the cinema. I rarely watch without English subtitles, so I think that it was the film which I concentrated on it most so far. I went to Taronga Zoo with my friend on a ferry from Circular Quay which is near the opera house. I was so glad to watch animal which can be seen only in Australia. This month, I must pass the mid-term test and oral presentation so I’m going to work hard.
