Hi everyone who is checking my monthly report. In February, I joined some festivals. As you know, New Zealand is a very multicultural country so there are many festivals which is related to other countries’ traditions such as Chinese Lantern Festival, Japan Day, and Greek Party Nights. In the Lantern Festival, I saw many beautiful and unique lanterns and ate some delicious Chinese food. I have also been to the Japan Day. In this event, there were several Japanese traditional performances. I think martial arts are very famous in New Zealand, and Japanese cartoon as well.
In the middle of February, I want to Hobbiton!!! Do you know the movie “The Lord of the Rings”?
I am a big fan of this movie so I was very excited! Furthermore, I went to Auckland Museum twice in a month. In the museum, we can get some information not only about New Zealand’s history but also about World War Ⅰ& Ⅱ. Surprisingly, there was a Zero fighter plane. The memory of war makes me feel sad but we have to know what happened in the past to make sure we don’t repeat the same mistakes.
At the end of February, there were some separations with my friends and host mother and housemates. I moved to a flat from homestay. I have only four weeks left so I wanted to have more experience. Living flat is good to me because there are people from different backgrounds so I can listen their talks and different English pronunsiation. Anyway, I had to say goodbye to six people during two days. I cried a lot, especially when I got out from homestay. Host mother gave me “I love you”. This became my treasure. I realised life is full of encounters and separations, but every meeting gives me something meaningful. I believe nothing is wasteful for our lives.
