Aloha!! This is my third monthly report. Thank you for reading. I feel time goes kind of slowly every day, but definitely time goes quickly day by day. I’d like to share one of Halloween event in Hawaii and my little progress of speaking English from now on. HELP students had a mid-term break for 1 week after they finished term-1. So, I’ve decided to go to the biggest pumpkin patch festival which was held in Kapolei with my friend. There were many huge pumpkins which I’ve never seen. We enjoyed taking photogenic photo and amusement very much.

Next, I’ll talk what a title means. As for me, before I get a score of speaking class, success for speaking English was speak fluently because it’s cool. This idea was wrong. Honestly, my speaking score was lower than other 3 classes which I was taking. I considered reason, and realized I was aware too much of not making mistakes. For example, in presentation, I focused on memorize a whole sentences. So, there were almost nothing interesting point in presentation. I think I had no confidence then.

On Saturday, I’m tutoring Japanese for local people. Students has a positive attitude. And they always ask questions if they had. One day, conversation partner said to me, “you don’t need to be perfect, we gain a lot from mistakes. I remember free from the pressure because of her encouragement.  After that, my motivation to speak English has totally changed. Now, in term 2, teacher give us a lot of opportunity to assertion more than term-1. I say my opinion during the class proactively as much as I can. And more, I’m making an effort to make people understand my presentation details in my own words. Thanks to these 2 effort, I became express my opinion in English much better. Literally, that’s how confidence brought me a little progress. My next goal is increase vocabulary. Recently, I often watch TED Talk as teaching material. This web site makes sense both to learn how to deliver talking and increase the vocabulary. English subtitle is also useful. Please check it out if you are interested in.

Finally, I learned a lot of things in October. Also, it was a good time to take a look of myself. I’m going to join Honolulu marathon volunteer next month. I just can’t wait! I should keep going study plus make every day enjoyable.
