Success depends on actions.
Jun . 2013
Hi, guys! Recently, the weather of Kingston has got hotter, so finally the summer came here!! We had a break week at the end of June, and during the break week we celebrated the 146th of Canada day. To tell the truth, I did not go traveling like other QSoE students going to NY; however, my stay-cation was pretty good for me. I went to my friends house staying Kingston to celebrate her birthday, went for riding a canoe in Ontario lake with my friend ,and went to Toronto to meet my friends. Also, I did study English ,especially speaking and reading. In Toronto, we saw the pride parade that is an event celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender(LGBT) culture and festivals for Canada day. I was really surprised by these events because I cannot experience them in Japan for sure. Canadian people explain their thoughts or minds directly to show what they think; on the other hand, Japanese people tend to imply their feelings, so Japan does have a National Foundation Day, but for Japanese, it seems to me just a holiday compare with Canada day, which Canadian people celebrate in a great way. They were proud of their own country and enjoyed the Canada day. I was really impressed and liked the way they celebrated.

After the break week, I received a mid-term mark, but I was not satisfied with it because it was a lower score than I expected. Thus, I talked about my score with my core teacher and heard what I needed for increasing my score. I found out I have to work on short story assignments and vocabulary tests. In short story assignments, we need to have a analyzing skill to figure out what is going on in each story. I knew I was confused sometimes, because people in the stories do not mention about what they really think ; they sometimes tell a lie, or what they say is not obvious. Therefore, the assignments make me puzzled. Also, we gave our teacher a feedback about classes, and I feel better about my core class right now since our teacher used to use a power point rather than black boards. I prefer the class style using black boards, so I really think the feedback is important for us to improve our English.

On July 4th, I became 22 years old and was really happy to celebrate my birthday in Canada. One of my classmates prepared a huge birthday cake and my classmates celebrated my birthday! Another day, my friends celebrated my birthday ,and we talked a lot and watched a movie. Also, my previous host family invited me and cerebrated my birthday. I really appreciate my friends, host family and family in Japan. I had a blissful birthday in Canada. Now, I have only 4 weeks left, so I'll do my best as much as I can in order not to waste my limited time in Canada. Success depends on actions, so I must take effective actions to reach my goals.
